Barbara's background in Irish Protestant history has shaped her interest in the social development of communities and the ecclesiastical archives of Ireland. Known for her enthusiastic call for all Irish emigrant descendants to visit Ireland at least once in their lifetime, she strives to bring its history alive by writing and speaking publicly on local histories that unite people to places, and particularly churches to community identity. Barbara holds two M.A. degrees in Local Studies and Theology and she is a founder member of the Irish Palatine Association and Museum,. Her publications and editorships have included the histories of many national schools, churches, the ecclesial site and round tower of Dysert Aengus, Co. Limerick, and St Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick.
